After several months of discussion, and some initial work to begin building a pushback against the attack on our home delivery and postal services, Solidarity Against Austerity decided at its August 14 Assembly to launch a full-scale organization wide campaign to defend our postal service and reverse the decision to terminate our home delivery.
An SAA working group struck in May brought forward a detailed campaign strategy, which attracted broad support. The strategy document refers to the Canada Post "Five Point Plan", including home delivery termination, as "a direct assault on a key public service," as well as on "one of the most militant unions in Canada."
